As our Nassau County girls teams prepare to launch their new season on Monday, August 29th, BOTN Industries would like to take a moment beforehand to remember the passing of Bob Bigelow, the first South Side Girls soccer coach whose tenure continued for 21 years beginning in 1980.

In addition to just being part of the South Side district for 32 years, Bigelow won 330 games and ten state titles in his head coaching career. His retirement in 2001 following the South Side 20-0 Class A Championship season earned him the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Coach of the Year Award.

Bigelow passed on June 25th, 2011 in Montclair, New Jersey. He is survived by two daughters: Kimberly Bigelow Organ, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Kathleen Bigelow Fink, of Baldwin; eight grandchildren; and siblings Sally Bigelow, Dorothy Russett, George and Jim Bigelow.

Wow...Division A1 and AA1 are stacked, playoff teams are going to look alot different this year, at least half the teams in each division will not make the playoffs...

The Girls side went back to an ability format within school size. Playoff structure will be different from last year. The higher divisions will have more playoff teams.

Summer is almost over, how about some predictions for the season. Who will win each league? Make the playoffs? Make noise in the playoffs?
