And did the younger talented Northport really beat MC and Merrick? Or Did MC and Merrick beat themselves? Been known to happen. RVC 2-1 Congrats on the division.
RVC will be happy to finish 1st or 3rd considering one of thier best players was/is out for season with injury and well noted abysmal 0-2-1 start. I'm certain they are not so foolish to count any chickens before they hatch and will give NP, a proven worthy and very dangerous advesary all due / deserved respect and prepare accordingly. Win, lose or tie vs NP, RVC like 7 other teams in D1 all played great this season and like on any Sunday this season, between any of the top 8 teams, any team could win lose or tie.
NP is undoubtably one of best U12 teams in state and country too likely but this is U13/D1 and RVC has won 5 strait division games and counting Discovery Cup is 8-1-0 in last 9 games.... RVC's only 2 losses were aginst Middle Country and Commack - currently tied for 1st in division - and thier tie was vs Merrick (perenial top D1 team who will finish 4th) Their loss in Discovery Cup Final was against East Meadow - one of best LI teams on age for years. RVC has been at the top of D1 since ariving so although I believe it would be an upset if they should lose to NP by no means is D1 Championship in the bag! I'd expect a nail biter down to final wistle. If I had to pick I have to go with RVC because of size, strength, exerience as well as fact they are a quality soccer team that wins the games they're supposed to and although I'd be surprised if they lost I would be far from shocked.
Certainly win, lose or draw they (RVC) will be ridiculed by the same few fools that have nothing positive to say about anyone but their kid or any team but thier kids team. Congrats to RVC for getting this far - following 0-2-1 start, 3rd place would be kind of amazing!
