along those lines, did you catch how in the semis that a southside player was unavailable and a player from their opposition left at halftime for a regional game. dont think i would pull my kid from that
opportunity. yes, im sure they will take a hit from their regional team, but which memory will stay with them now?

Regional team is way more important than this.Dont be jealous.Give it a rest already.

The moment should be about the girls winning State Championship. Please stop with this trivial side show

I have found that coaches on both sides of this issue behave like immature, insensitive children. In most instances have no kids of their own and have no understanding of what they put families through unnecessarily. Many probably wouldn't care even if they did.

Egotistical maniacs flexing their power over high school girls, all for their own personal aggrandizement.

Maybe someday when they have their own kids they will finally realize what jerks they truly were!

i would respond with, to what end was that regional game more important? read the following post with rollie fingers quote. i would be curious to see both girls opinions (the south side girl who missed her state championship and the other girl whos team fell apart after she left) a few years from now on whether they regret the choice they made.
plus, im not sure what you think im jealous of. please explain.

[quote=Anonymous]Hope Solo comment is idiotic, that girl is an excellant goalie, you are angry probably because your kid warms the bench. Grow up. [/quote

The Hope Solo commentator should get a load of the Newsday blog on last night's County awards. Sweeeeet !

It is a simple opinion thing. One is no better than another, we all have an opinion. Hindsight is 20/20 and having the benefit of hindsight, I personally would play for my High School. But I fully understand making the other choice. I believe the SS player had an opportunity to participate in a National level game. If she does not go, her spot there is gone. Tough decision for a 13/14 year old. In the end, to each his own.

normally the parents of kids who are not good enough to make State or Regional teams take the view it is worthless compared to HS. They are jealous that their kids could never make it that far. Play in a low level HS game or play on a Regional team with a chance of making nationals? It's a no brainer that only someone with no brain would argue against.

The SS player did not play full games on HS team so it made sense to go to the National event.

This event in Boca is not a national event. It is one of several regional events.

I agree...you can't pass up on the chance to play Nationally..huge difference but a very tough choice for a teenager. It's a great thing just to get invited to the Regional event.

I cannot believe the posts here. You abandon your high school team to play elsewhere and some people applaud this?

What is wrong with you people? You or your kids could never work in my organization is all I can say.

What screwed up values, glad you did not darken our team.

Abandon? Did she give birth to the high school team. Please stop all these nonsense posts. The team won. Move on. Half of the kids sat on the bench all year. Maybe one of them got an opportunity to play. You don't hear anyone on hear bashing the coach for letting players sit on their asses all year. That's okay!

Only National players went to the tournament. SS has a couple of other regional players. Only one National player. That's why she left and the other girl from the other team. Chances are UNC coach(as an example) will not be looking at the state championship game but something tells me he sends someone to the Boca event.

So what would you have your kid do? Don't say stay and play a HS soccer match. Please.

Think whatever you want National and college coaches were in attendance for the games all week. The top 72 kids in the nation in the u15 age group,so I would think it is a little more important than your game.I bet there was alot of scouts at the high school games also.Yea right.

My kid did the right thing.
