Have to agree - the EH/Jer game was really bad. Granted, EH was missing its star goal-scoring midfielder(due to ridiculous yellow card for "excessive celebration"). But still, not their best performance. EH plays quick "European" possession style soccer, normally tons of passing. They were outplayed by the bigger, more physical "American" style that Jericho plays.

Now look at Brentwood. so many great teams in the past and this one is also a very good one. They got the the LI final again! so it is due for a bad game here or there or a mismatch in technique and strategy. It is a soccer game and anything can happen as we all know.

The strategy is to "not loose" as to not embarass the SA franchise, so they play a defensive format (1 forward) and the other teams play long ball soccer into 2 or 3 forwards. Fail to take control of your destiny and you allow chance to take over.

Players are often confused and rarley happy playing "the system". They are told to play the ball early into 1 forward vs 4 backs while the rest of the team fills in behind. By the time the cavalry arrives possession is lost and chance has a crack.

interesting. the best team on li catholic league always seems to lose. Caminade too, why?

You clearly didn't attend Catholic school. Your grammar proves it.

You clearly are an embarrassment. How does a guy like you feel the need to speak for All of Catholic Schools? Sarcasm and ridicule are just not part of the equation or the values. Here is what the original poster was saying: Why does the number one team in the CHSAA on LI always find a way to lose the championship in the end? It is a really good question and your silly response just takes the focus off of the real question. You must be from St. Anthony's??? Otherwise, why would you care? Chaminade lost two years ago, St. Anthony's last year and this year after leading the league all season long.

First off, the two boys playing up top are two of the most talented players on the Island, even though one of them doesn't have the spotlight as much, he is undoubtably an unsung hero. Secondly, the WI coached screwed the team because instead of playing those two players in the center of the pitch where they could actually find the ball and face the Brentwood goal (as opposed to never seeing the ball get anywhere close to the Brentwood penalty area, and on the rare occasion that the ball did reach that point, having them try and turn on a physically dominate back four)he played them up top. Both those players have phenomenal technical ability and vision that is unmatched; while they may not be physically stronger than the Brentwood midfield or back four, they have more than enough technical ability to escape the first and second defender in order to make a play. Third, in taking both of those two out of the midfield, it was blatant that WI could not formulate any magic going upfield, or effectivly transition from the back four, through the middle third and finally to the strikers (the back four just drove hopeful balls up top for those two players to try and deal with). When those hopeful balls were launched foward with no real target in mind, they still ran after them trying to make something happen. Their egos were not revealed that night, because they are not selfish players by any means, and at times they could even be a little selfish and take the strike instead of dishing the ball off for a teammate. Those two that you're talking about have made an incredible impact on that team and carried them much further than I think anyone would have guessed. Also, they were seniors, and they will be remember for their hardwork and determination, as well as their leadership (as they fought till the last second of that match). You saw just how much it meant to them when the final second ticked and they both fell to the floor. So don't make a judgement on two players you obviously have no knowledge about, and especially when you don't know how hard those two trained to become that great and play at the level they do outside of school ball. It's comments like that which make school ball the train wreck it is, because people with little knowledge make a judgement call on someone who is truly talented and makes this game that much better. Go watch a real game.

Maybe it is because teams develop and it is hard to beat a team 3 times. it is kind of a disadvantage come championship time. Teams tend to even out a bit.
