Having played both teams (and this is JUST an opinion), no slights intended. I think Smithtown plays better "soccer" not that WB doesn't just give Smithtown the edge there BUT WB was faster and more aggressive which far too often games are determined by those 2 qualities. It's a guess but I would think 3 or 4 to 2 WB takes it.

Question? Our coach, being upset the boys are not doing well, desides to add a girl to the roster with no discussion with the boys or thir parents. Its official so it cant be undone and now a bunch of boys want to leave the team. Any feed back??

If the coach was informed of everyone's feelings then you have no option but to grin and bear it for this fall season.

If you have many people who are unhappy then you better prepare and have an option for the teams possible collapse.

We are a b-u14 team and have had a girl with us since b-u10
She is great!! Every year I think she will move over to the girls she shows up and plays harder and it makes my boys do the same. So relax and tell your son to treat her as just another player.

This is a bunch of bull!!! I happen to know this young lady and know that she is just as tough as any boy on the team. It was a good call by the coach to add her, she will work hard and add a lot to the team. As far as I know the boys are happy with her joining.. What "boys" are unhappy, the big tough guy writing this post?

My sons team had a girl on it from U8 - U13/14 and everyone was sad to see her go to a girls team. You need to calm down and watch what happens when they play. Or is it that you are afraid that your little Johnny will get less playing time? I am sorry but your green is showing. I also know that your coach will not be happy when he finds out that you are spewing hate on here. Maybe you should have taken your concerns to him, instead of whining like a scared little girl here.

Buck up, Bubba!!!

We played both teams and I give the edge to Smithtown, more physical. The advantage these 2 teams have over the other D2 teams is there are no weakness coming off the benches. When we had our best line-up on the field we played them even the entire time, however our bench players are not in the same class and that's when top teams (like these)take advantage. We hit 2 posts and missed 2 open goals against WB, so you can get shots.

These 2 teams are the class of D2 by far.

It seems you are angry with the addition of a young lady to your boys team..I doubt your coach would add her if he didnt feel she was a positive to the team..i believe if a player, regardless of gender, that helps your team should be added..at a young age,as yours is,girls are typically bigger, listen better, and take direction better than boys.i know.i coached a boys premier team and i'd have given my arm for a few of our same age girls team players..It sounds as if you are a bit worried about your own kids playing time.Take it as a learning experience..dont make her feel unwanted, thats not fair...i also doubt that all of the parents feel as you do...let it play out and i bet it works out in a positive way.if you are digruntled then go..but give her a chance...btw..what is your soccer/sports expierence...its 2011...get out of the dark ages...good luck to you, your team and that special young lady who is taking a huge chance...she must be a brave kid..

Playing Devil's advocate here. Why has it always been ok for girls to play on boys teams but never the other way around ? Even say in a Guest Player capacity it is not allowed. Now most fathers/parents probably couldn't handle the thought of their son being the only boy on a girls team which I get but it wouldn't even be considered by anyone anyway is my point. This isn't the dark ages and I honestly feel that woman are definitely the stronger of the two genders with all they can juggle and do compared to men (sorry guys, just my opinion and yes, I'm a man) and there shouldn't even be this discussion because bottom line is if the player in question is equal or stronger then the boys her own age then that is all that should matter, I'm just bringing up the double standard that has always existed.

Only an idiot and a poor parent would allowthier child to play for this jerk. All you have to do is go to one game, any game he is coaching and losing and see how he acts. He portrays to the common observer that he is an immature, selfish, uneducated, hyper aggressive ass!
