What about all the kids that sat on the bench all year who showed their loyalty. The coach abandoned them. They were there and wanted to play. This kid doesn't show up to a game and you are bashing her. What about the kids that sat there game after game went to every practice and never saw the field. You want every player to show their loyalty to this team then have the coach lead by example. Guaranteed if a player who sat on the bench all year didn't show for a family party we wouldn't be hearing a thing about it. Get over yourself and move on. You are trying to hurt this child's reputation for your own selfish reasons (whatever they may be). The team won isn't that enough for you. Why are you so resentful? And don't give me the loyalty crap, what is your agenda?

Any kid and parent in their right mind would pick the national event over school ball. You are all full of bs. Let me think about this school ball coach who is the science teacher or national and college coaches. Its a tough choice.

Of course they would. This is coming from a kids parent on the team who is good but not as good as the star and needs a reason to beat on her so their kid will shine a bit brighter. Sad but true your enemy SS Mom is probably your best High School friends Mom or Dad. I've been there and done that. Good Luck and Beware!!!!

Star??? Now that's laughable. Couldn't even start on HS team. What so called National player doesn't start on HS team? Can't cut it with older girls?

Obviously you don't clue

you don't clue either

No you don't. My quote was not put in as written. A player asked to attend a National team game, or game attended by national team coaching staff, and major college coaches is a easy one answered. Any HS coach that would not allow that player, or players this opportunity is a idiot. No one cares about HS soccer games except of course the HS players themsleves, parents of players, small amounit if the student body, and the coach of particular HS team.

You have some very screwed up values. Glad we don't play with your kid.

Why couldn't the kids invited to this event just go a day or so late and explain why? These kids will probably all be going to many more events where college coaches will see them over the next few years.

As has become the annual tradition on BOTN as the calendar turns to December, we will be closing our High School discussion threads for the Fall 2011 season just before the school holiday season.

If you have final comments on this year's playoffs, state championship competition, next season's prospects, or just want to wish particular teams and players well, now is the time to offer those thoughts.

As always, a note to our graduating High School Seniors : On behalf of the parents and readers here on Back of the Net, thank you for contributing to your school's spirit and good luck with your college acceptances. May the wind be in your sails for whatever course you chart!

It's a few months of fun and hanging out with their friends from school but it's actually not good for them, from a soccer standpoint. They get used to playing against slower, weaker opponents and they do things that they could never do against their Club opponents. They play a style of soccer that doesn't work when they return to the reality of travel soccer, especially those playing at a higher level. It also doesn't help those kids who are looking to play in college. But they do have fun.

Good players easily adapt to what you describe. High School ball, while not close to premier ball is a fantastic experience for the girls, and leaves many fond memories that they will remember for a life time. Congrats to all this years participants. You made your schools very proud!,,,

My daughter had the time of her life on high school soccer this year, as a sophmore we were worried she wouldn't fit in. The pasta parties, tp-ing the houses, sleepovers- simply priceless! She plays travel for a D-2 team, and yes, she would like to play in college, but I don't think her HS play will affect that either way. Girls adapt, but she wouldn't give up her experience on Varsity for anything.
We enjoyed watching all the girls play this year! Best of luck to all the seniors.
