ID2 is free of charge, unlike ODP which costs an arm and a leg. Plus, on the boys side, with the Academy program, no one from ODP is getting anywhere near the national team.

So, despite having a separate thread and a thousand responses, the Development Academy argument comes to this thread with the "National Team" argument.

Here's a hint for you : neither ODP nor ID2 has an advantage here. ID2 claims to have an advantage as it is a marketing tool to sell the program to unsuspecting parents who have either already bought or will buy into the Development Academy structure. ODP does not have the same parent club recruiting and market needs and therefore will not be selling their connections to the "National Team".

As for getting somewhere, maybe a college education or building a baseline for your student-athlete's future is more important than thinking "National Team"?

Correct - it is a marketing tool that USCS uses against USYSA. The marketing works since USCS advertises to get their member academy clubs additional notariety over the non-marketed USYSA structure. It is certainly marketing for the Development Academy clubs. However, nowhere here did we point to anything beneficial for the average student-athlete participant. Think about it.

"You know Mr. and Mrs. Jones, your son, Johnny, really showed some great potential here at ID2. We are sure glad you decided to come out."

"Thank you, Coach Smith, we are glad we brought him after he did not make the State and Regional structure. Clearly, the fact that we were from Club ABC killed his chances with those ODP folks."

"Yes, the politics involved with those USYSA programs is certainly out of control. We have heard about it often here at ID2."

"Coach Smith, you mean that the politics are real?"

"Of course, Mrs. Jones, alive and well. See, if we were to move Johnny to one of our programs you would be sure that his talent would be recognized just like I recognized it today and you would be away from that constant political environment."

"Really, tell us more."

Ewwww, sounds like the script at clubs like Lake Grove. "Come and join our A TEAM. Your child will have me, the great and almighty trainer, which is worth its weight in gold. Don't worry, he won't start and we'll play him 3 minutes a half, but he'll be so much better off here with me. I will look out for him. And if he gets bored to death sitting on the bench, we have plenty of spots for him on our B, C, D, or E teams. See how much fun he'll have with me? Don't forget, it's cash only, once a month, and please pay at the window."

I guess everyone talks just to talk.

ID2... excellent experience. level of play- incredible. Run IMPECCABLY-highly organized. How can it be bad to have your kid go away for 4days with 60 other high skilled soccer players and train/play/learn? Uh cost= $00000000. Yes and even some gear thrown in. Never asked to change a club, give your first born or pay a dime! Just soccer, soccer, soccer and at the end for the highest ability, the chance to go to Spain to rep. US Youth team. (BTW, the level of the kids is hard-presses to match and from ALL over East)

If its possible get your kid to the one in Texas coming up...it is well-worth the plane ticket.

I believe PDA is heavily invested in ID2, if PDA supports the program thats good enough for me, not sure why BOTN would be so against it...

You are missing very critical information which makes your post inaccurate and you are uninformed....I'll give you some time to see if you can figure out why PDA supports ID2, which I reiterate is not what it is advertised to be.

Larry I love the way you truly beleive that BOTN is the only knowledgeable source on Youth soccer.

Yes PDA is invested in ID2, its tied to ENCL, which PDA helps organize. PDA is also a great club, with a clear vision of how youth soccer should be run. They have great coaches & trainers and some of the best teams and players in the nation, so pls explain why I should trust your word over theirs??

I also know at least 2 girls who went through the ID2 program and were invited to train w/ the U15 national team last year, so it cannot be all bad...
