That's a fairly broad brush statement that may not necessarily apply to every parent. I am sure there are more than a few parents (men and women) out there that have some coaching certifications, high level player background or a good understanding of the game and what constitutes a "good player" at a certain position to make a good judgement.

Yes there are folks who don't understand the game and as I have seen on this board from questions and answers there are individuals that do.
