Fifty-seven teams have applied for acceptance into the 2007 WAGS Tournament over Columbus Day. Applications closed on Thursday, July 12th at day's end. Based on last year's brackets, forty-eight teams in three brackets are chosen.

From New York East, Albertson, Cold Spring Harbor, Commack, East Islip, Rockville Centre, and Sachem are all present. Oceanside Stars (!?) are listed as are the Mamaroneck Panthers.

Stonybrook (!?) is missing from the applicant list, but in the U/15 group, Syosset is listed.
WAGS acceptances have been released. Only 36 teams were taken - three groupings of a dozen teams each. Great showing by Long Island.

WAGS Cup Flight : Albertson
WAGS "A" Flight : Commack, East Islip, RVC, Sachem
WAGS "B" Flight : CSH

Mamaroneck did not get an invitation.

Usually great competition. The B bracket looks a little suspect. VA Rush should be in A.

Hopefully the weather will cooperate this year...

Why???

Because even though somehow Commack made it to semis, CSH beat Sachem. CSH would to better in the A bracket than Commack would.

Albertson is clearly in the proper bracket as is RVC. Sachem is the unknown again. Which Sachem team shows up? the one that came in next to PDA in Region 1 play or the one that lost in the second round in the State Cup.

East Islip and Commack seem to be able to call in some favors time after time. How these teams get into brackets and get ranked is beyond what any experience observer of thhe game can explain. But that's football.

As for CSH - they should proably be in at least the level of the other mid bracket LI teams, but they have to show that they can close out a league or a tournament first. Mostly it comes down to mastering their own destiny. After all, after about half a dozen years they still don't score enough goals game in and game out to dominate where they should and win games that they shouldn't lose or tie.

Last but not least, what's up with Stony Brook these days?

you have effectively found a way to insult four teams and to believe that Commack and or EI have manipulated a system is at best paranoid. your evaluation of CSH suggest you have some alligence or reason to hate CSH, pick your choice. This age group has 1 maybe 2 seasons of HS soccer left, enjoy it LI put out a decent product with any one of these teams, over 100 girls from the basic same geographic area all of them playing their hearts out every game. and unlike their parents still managing to be friends with each other.
