Oh boy - I guess this thread is about to ramp up a little.
The Wolfies showed their fangs and in a tight match, sunburned the Beach Bums. The Bulls did not realize week 2 was a "bear" market and the Hurricanes stormed on by. Off a loss in week 1, the Sound Beach Boys asked for help from Rhonda and come up with a tie against the Sharks who continue to show some bite. And last, the battle of the Wests ends in a high scoring tie - neither got Crushed and both should be Proud.
Good luck to all still in the Cup - the weather appears to have turned and blue skies ahead.

I'm "Just Sayin"

It's funny how most of the bashing on this website is about the coaches who by the way VOLUNTEER there time to teach your kids the game of soccer. It would be nice if there was some show of appreciation towards coaches instead of the constant name calling and display of high school name calling. All the little nicknames on this thread for all the coaches and teams are ridicoulous grow up already! Everybody has something to say about everyone and every team such negativity why can't it ever be about a good game and how well the kids played it always has to turn into the name calling!

Question- If a Dad,has coaching experience at the High School or Academy level should he be paid to coach if all the other trainers in the Club get paid?

It depends if the Club has rules against Daddy coaches getting paid.

The Club does NOT have rules against paying Dads.. Currently there are no Daddy coaches, only professional trainers, but club is going to experiment with allowing this individual to coach due to his vast experience. Many will argue against him being able to coach his own son ,but that is not my question. My thought is that if he has the experience, he certainly should be paid. Just want to get other opinions.

No. it's bad enough his crappy kid gets the extra playing time and premier position.

"Experience" playing means little when it comes to coaching. What real coaching experience does any of those high priced “trainers” have? What licenses do they hold? What other teams have the coached and what was the record or improvement of those teams? How many elite players did they develop? When you start asking those questions, most of those “trainers” turn out to be very little more than someone with and accent!

There is no reason for a team to pay any coach/trainer at this age. The club can pay someone to work with all the players in the club, but past that, the only one who makes out is the one being paid!

Ummmm obviously not that strong. No Suffolk teams alive in major bracket. Seems all S1 teams are out of the Cup one way or another.

Sad but true , after Saturday results Suffolk is out of the cup . Nice job Nassau .. The Gunner's will win this bracket hands down . They are 2-0 in league play with 10 for and 0 against and walked past the first 2 rounds with the same results .. Good job boy's !!
I am not taking anything away from any other team and I am not bashing .. The proof is in the results and the gunner's are the real deal !!! Beat Smithtown 5-0, Thats a good team .. I am not making excuses , but I think the suffolk boy's play 2 and 3 sports while Nassau boy's seem to focus more on soccer ..Not sure , but just my guess !!

What Suffolk team do you coach? definitely not the situation. My sons team has numerous boys that play multiple sports. How about Garden City for example? They have very solid lax program and they are a strong team. From what I see Nassau teams play more soccer (tournaments, cups). Yes, they do it even with boys playing multiple sports. They just make it work. This being my third child thru, I have seen it. Do not know it all, but in order to get better, besides training, a team needs to compete and play.
